Classic Jigsaw Puzzle Game with 30 stunning pictures of sea scenery with sailing warships of various ages and countries - from state-of-the-art Western Frigates and Ships-of-the-line to legendary Korean Kobuksons (turtle ships) and Chinese War Junks. Each scene can be solved in 3 different modes, suitable for all puzzle-lovers. Moreover, the game comes with a backstory - an impressive visual novel about risky journey of a Venetian adventurer for the lost treasure.

Backstory

From the letter of one Venetian adventurer...

"After many years of perilous travels full of hardships and dangers, I was comforted with the knowledge that I was returning home with priceless cargo...but now we are all prisoners and are at the mercy of hateful Pirates. My priceless cargo, that to them is nothing but a pile of worthless papers, unfortunately caught their leader’s attention. All my attempts to explain the value of my scrolls were met with jeers and laughter from these uneducated Barbarians. For the sake of sadistic enjoyment derived from my torments, they cut into pieces all of my precious papers."

The note continues...

"Praise Be to the Lord, it had not occurred to anyone setting fire to them in the process. Even in such disarray, I take comfort from knowing the scrolls are not lost to me until the end of time. Reflecting on all those ordeals that I had to undergo in order to collect each of these gems, and to think that in the blink of an eye these savages could have easily destroyed them all."

And then the letter concludes...

"I have managed to gather all of the scraps with the hope of preserving them for future generations. If you are reading this message, it makes my heart glad that they have made it to the safety of your keep. This is a decent puzzle game, themed around ships of the Age of Sail. About the only real drawback is that it appears to me to be a port from a smartphone app. Mostly due to the rather limited field of "play". That and they forgot to add something to allow you to track which puzzles you have done in which sizes. Still, for the price it is not that bad.. JiPS is a jigsaw puzzle game involving Ships. There are three types Mediterranean, Asian, and Caribbean with 10 puzzles for each type. You can do the puzzles in the following formats 6 x 8, 12 x 16, and 15 x 20. Some of the puzzles simply auto complete at 6 x 8 due to the picture not worth doing at that setting. The only issue I have with this game is that when you complete a puzzle it says complete on any setting making it hard to know if you've done it. For example I do the third puzzle on 6 x 8 when I go to the same puzzle at 12 x 16 or 15 x 20 it will say complete. This makes it hard when chasing after the 100% completion achievements since all it takes is to miss one puzzle and you got to go back trying to figure out which one you missed. It's not a game breaking issue for me since I just kept track with my notebook but I can see it being a pain in the rear if you missed one and had to go back.. score game: 7\/10. This game is very relaxing and beautifully rendered. With that said, it does have two issues. The puzzle pieces are quite small. On the medium (200 pieces) and hard (300 pieces) level, they are very small and very hard to make out. Once a puzzle is finished, no matter the level, it is marked for reference. Finishing the puzzle on another level does not add a new marker. This makes it difficult to keep track of what puzzles have been completed with what levels. This would be a handy feature as the achievements center around finishing on the different levels. An interesting note: one can float a puzzle piece around the board and it will lock into place whether it is attached to another piece or not. I do recommend the game though with a touch of patience.... I wanted to like this game, but Microsoft Jigsaw (free in the Windows 10 App Store) has kind of spoiled me on computer jigsaw puzzles.

  • No easy identification of edge pieces. The first step to any jigsaw puzzle is finding the edge pieces of course. A button to segregate them would be nice.

  • Pieces "snap to" the puzzle grid instead of each other. This makes it impossible to put together portions of the puzzle that you know go together without randomly moving your mouse around until you accidentally find where one piece in the block goes in the grid.

  • No screen resolution settings. Playing on a 2560x1440 monitor was quite a challenge from an eye strain perspective. To make this worse, I tried to move the window to a 1920x1080 monitor and the menu no longer functioned. Had to Alt-F4 out of the app.

  • Not enough variation in piece shapes (see next point). Especially for patches of mostly one color it would be nice to be able to make an educated guess based on piece shape instead of randomly moving a piece until it "snaps".

  • No zoom feature. Since most of the pieces are too similar in shape, it would be nice to be able to zoom in on the pieces to determine subtle differences to help you solve.

  • Poor screen real estate usage and piece management. Again at 2560x1440, the puzzle only took up about 45% of the width of the display. The game does not allow you to move pieces outside of its limited graphic area which makes sorting pieces by color tedious at best, if not impossible especially on the harder difficulty levels.<\/li><\/ul>
    Summary:<\/u><\/b>
    For less than $3 on sale, this was not a horrible bargain. However I would recommend that the devs study Microsoft Jigsaw and steal the user interface in a future update. Overall 4.0\/10.0.

    Fun game and very relaxing. The artwork in this game looks really nice. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles.. Beautiful classic jugsaw puzzle with amazing pictures, easy interface and relaxing music. Seems like pictures are unique - kudos to devs.
    Overall - best jigsaw puzzle on PC I ever seen,
    10 turtle ships from 10,. I really want to love this game, because of the great slider puzzle sideboard, which is genius and not present in any other currently available on steam jigsaw puzzle games! The images are great and the entire theme is just lovely with loads of puzzles to assemble (again unlike Pixel Puzzles or Animated Puzzles). It even has a great price! However, this game has major drawbacks, one of which is you cannot track which puzzles you have completed as well as too small of a puzzle "field". Doing the hardest difficulty puzzles is way too difficult because of how small the pieces are. The achievements are underdeveloped and difficult to reach. I also experience some bugs such as every other puzzle I open in the easiest mode is welcomes me with the completed congratulations screen. I can only recommend this game for people who are looking to play in the easy mode (1\/3 of the game) and not reach all the achievements.
